Timely reshare…A little reality check before diving into THIS new week. Most of us are carrying some extra stress, deadlines are approaching, wallets may be feeling tight... tensions may be high.🌲For so many of us, this stress comes from a place of preparation, joyful anticipation. 🌲Many of our students are also full of anticipation- but of something quite different. They may be anticipating the stress that fills their home when school’s out- and food is more scarce. Two weeks without breakfast and lunch that they usually have at school.🌲For many of our students, long days at home aren’t a welcome break from the grind of the school day. There may be dangerous adult behaviors, siblings to protect, and secrets to keep. 🌲This “break” we look so fondly toward, may be anything but that for some of our students. So please, when you encounter challenging student behavior this week, stop and consider the big emotions students might be managing on the inside. Let’s do our best this week, to be equipped with more compassion and empathy than we think we’ll need. 🌲Because the students who need love the most will ask for it in the most unloving ways. ...
